Hand built coiled stoneware pots with an integration between form and surface inspired by archaic forms yet contemporary in feel.
An archived selection of earlier pots, the first seven of which were smoke fired, the others high fired stoneware with oxides, stains and sometimes slips. I no longer use smoke firing as a process, relying instead on texture achieved through scraping and sometimes burnishing. Coloured slips and stains are also used for contrast. As the pots are not glazed they are polished once they have been cleaned. I try to achieve an integration between form and decoration.
